Warm Bath

A low wooden stool sits beside a cedar bucket and a tap of warm water. You fill the bucket and pour it slowly over your shoulders. The water runs down and away between the stones. The dust of the day goes with it, and then, somehow, a little more than dust.

How it works

Every moment begins with the same option: Stay a while. It lingers where you are, with nothing to decide, and every path is still open afterward. Beyond that, up to three ways onward. Some circle back; two lead home, each with its own postcard.
