Warm Bath

The wall is built of rounded stones fitted together without mortar. Moss grows in the seams, and a small fern has taken root halfway up. It is just high enough to keep the world out, and just low enough to let the trees in. Beyond it, branches move against the evening.

How it works

Every moment begins with the same option: Stay a while. It lingers where you are, with nothing to decide, and every path is still open afterward. Beyond that, up to three ways onward. Some circle back; two lead home, each with its own postcard.
