Warm Bath

A small iron pot sits on a tray beside two cups, one of them yours. The tea is roasted and smells faintly of toast. You hold the cup in both hands and look out over the bath. The steam from the cup and the steam from the water rise together and become the same thing.

How it works

Every moment begins with the same option: Stay a while. It lingers where you are, with nothing to decide, and every path is still open afterward. Beyond that, up to three ways onward. Some circle back; two lead home, each with its own postcard.
