Warm Bath

You stay with the first star. It flickers faintly in the warm air rising off the water. A second star appears to its left while you watch, then a third, farther off. You don't count them. They will keep arriving whether you count or not.

How it works

Every moment begins with the same option: Stay a while. It lingers where you are, with nothing to decide, and every path is still open afterward. Beyond that, up to three ways onward. Some circle back; two lead home, each with its own postcard.
